COOKIES!

I’ve been making up my cookies to give the neighbors and take to family events.

Here’s my list-  If you want the recipe for any of these let me know in the comments and I will share.

1. fruitcake -ok – not a cookie!

2. lemon coconut dainties- holiday version

3. brownie bites – again – not a cookie.

4. ribbon cookies

5. pizzeles

6. shortbread w/chocolate

7. + 8. biscotti x2

9. apple tart bites- hmm- not a cookie.

10.salted breadsticks- sour cream version- not a cookie.

11. gingerbread cutouts

Several of those are technically bars or breads- but they fit very nicely onto the trays and are cut in the style of a cookie- and I LIKE THEM!

What is on your cookie list?

  1. Heidi that is quite the baking list you have there! Mine is no where near that long, and seeing as though I haven’t actually started any, I’m not sure it counts anyway…They are to be made though.
grissini, shortbread, biscotti, gingerbread men…and that’s it I think. As long as I don’t look at too many other food blogs!

  2. This cookie baking thing has made me very wistful. Once upon a time, I spent Christmas in Canada with a dear friend and all her high flying exec girlfriends spent their evenings baking cookies. We would visit them and out would come the boxes and the tins and the trays and the cookie exchange would begin. It completely puzzled me at the time, Brits don’t do cookies like you seem to do across the Atlantic. I think it’s a lovely tradition and I wish we did it here. Maybe I should start it up in my road….

  3. It is still early- but I wanted to get some trays out for gifts before I went out of town.
Big storm on the way tomorrow, so maybe I will deliver the cookies in the midst of snow!
    (HO HO HO!)

  4. I made cookies and took them down to my South American kids who were thrilled. Just made some traditional ones like thumbprints, russian tea cakes, apricot filled cream cheese kipfel (also some with dates and some with raspberry filling) and some raspberry chocolate shortcake things. I may still make some rum balls too!

  5. I have made Russian tea cakes (Laurel’s request) and 7 layer bars (Joe’s choice). I am going to make buckeyes (Taylor’s pick) and thumbprints (mine). That *may* be all.

I had not made 7 layer bars before–I find butterscotch chips to be too sweet. But as I was making these I was a little short on walnuts, and since Taylor doesn’t like nuts, I just made half a pan without nuts and it occurred to me that I could add broken pretzels and the salt could counteract some of the sweetness. But I didn’t have pretzels. Next time…. 🙂
