Happy things-

socks, yarn, L fairy 001

Some things make me smile- others make me happy.

Mostly it is people and relationships that make me happy, so when some thing makes me happy, I want to share it.

This blue yarn makes me happy.  I bought it from the woman who raised the sheep that grew it.  She handled the skeins like they were old friends and I imagined as she put them into the bag she whispered goodbye.  The dye is called mountain blue and I haven’t yet decided what to do with it, although I have been thinking it would make a lovely large bowl.

And this sock makes me happy.

I knitted it over the weekend and enjoyed watching as the pattern appeared.

It is tailor knitted to fit my foot and I will be even happier when I knit up it’s twin.

This little lavender doll makes me very happy!

I’m always looking for another way to use lavender and this little doll, following the pattern of pine needle dolls adds a totally feminine cast to the herb and needle doll collection.

    • Thank you, Celia- happy things are infectious, I think!
      Brydie-
I don’t know how to crochet well enough to make a hat, maybe I will knit one.
And your happy things make me happy as well- from marmalade to boys dancing like monkeys- and I love to see my rosemary healthy and blooming – Happy is the word for !

  1. Mountain Blue is beautiful. If that was mine I would make a crocheted hat…if I could crochet ….and if I could make hats.
What makes me happy? That Cumquat and Lime Marmalade I just ate- it will be a sad day when that finishes. Also when I look out my window I see my rosemary growing in a pot- this a big thing for me!…can I add one more. Watching my kids dance like crazy monkeys with music cranked up- that makes me very happy 🙂

  2. Such lovely yarn . . . I can’t wait to see what it becomes! And your sock is inspiring . . . I haven’t taken on sock knitting yet (not a huge fan of double-point needles) !!

  3. I just wish I could knit anything besides scarves! What makes me happy? Tea. Sleeping baby. Fall decorations up in the house. Pumpkins. Having it cool enough to WEAR socks and sweaters!

  4. I love your happy things too! Can’t think of anything sensible to say, but I love socks and handknitted ones in particular. Yours remind me of some I have from a friend and help me to remember her. Thank you!

  5. Thanks, Joanna,
    I, too , LOVE socks.
Funny that, because I hate wearing shoes.
I once belonged to a club wher we sent each other socks. Strange club- but I still have some of those socks and I love them.
Knitting socks was on my bucket list. I’ve always wanted to and when I found a knitting group that was doing it all together I joined. This is only my third pair but I’m getting better at it all the time! LOL- socks make me happy!
