Making the applesauce in the slow cooker was easy.

And the pie was delicious.  Alas it is all gone. (Who knew Jordan would eat the applesauce by the cupful!  Tomorrow, I’ll make more and maybe have some to freeze for later.)

I saw a recipe on Mennonite Girls can cook for Caramel Apple Cake with individual  bundt cakes that looks heavenly.  I’m going to try that one!

Got any more recipes that feature apples for me to try?

I’d really like a GOOD apple crisp- I have some recipes- but I’d like something spectacular.  If you have one you like, please share.

  1. I think my mother might have a recipe for apple chutney….I’ll email her and check. Wish you could mail me one of those bundt cakes!!!!!

  2. That’s too funny! I made applesauce and an apple pie yesterday, too. You made yours the slow way and I made mine the fast way!!

I’ve been making applesauce for Elliott in the. microwave. I peel, core, and quarter the apples and cover the bottom of a 9 x 11 dish. A dash of water and then hit ‘auto cook fresh vegetable’ on my microwave settings. Bada bing, bada boom. Perfectly cooked apples in just a few minutes. I put the cooked apples in the food processor with a scant 1/4 cup of sugar, a 1/2 t. of cinnamon and a dash of cardamon and process til smooth.

I took a picture of my pie with my phone and sent it to my husband at work and, no kidding, it looks almost identical to yours! I brushed the top with milk and sprinkled on cinnamon and sugar instead of just sugar this time. It smelled heavenly baking but I don’t think it really added anything to the final product.

  3. Cranberry Apple Walnut Pie

    2 c. fresh cranberries, chopped
    2 c. chopped, peeled apples
    1 to 1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    2 Tbsp. quick-cook tapioca
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    pastry for 9″ double-crust pie

    1. In large mixing bowl, combine cranberries, apples, sugar, nuts, tapioca and cinnamon. Let stand 20 minutes.

    2. Turn cranberry mixture into 9″ pastry-lined pie plate. Adjust top, seal and flute edges. Cut vents in crust. Brush top crust with a few drops milk, sprinkle with sugar. Cover edge of pie with foil to prevent overbrowning.

    3. Bake in 375 oven for 25 minutes; remove foil, bake 20-30 minutes more until golden.

This pie is tart, especially if you go toward 1 cup sugar rather than 1 1/2. YUM!

  4. Hey, just wanted to drop in and say you’re getting really good at laying out your pictures and such for your blog posts.

You’re doing a great job with your blog! Keep it up! 🙂
