Happy May day!<\/p>\n

In my family, flowers play a large part of<\/p>\n

every season and holiday.<\/p>\n

I grew up in the greenhouse business-<\/p>\n

and my mother was a florist ( a floral arranger)<\/p>\n

so most of my memories are interlaced with <\/p>\n

flowers.<\/p>\n

My sister Robin and I added to the tradition<\/p>\n

by including may baskets or bouquets- and<\/p>\n

Allyson and her son Aiden carry on the tradition for me<\/p>\n

every May 1st.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 In my kitchen\u2026<\/p>\n

\"010\"<\/a><\/p>\n

are flowers!  Bleeding heart, epimidium , flowering quince, tulips, daffodils,<\/p>\n

mint, brunera and grape hyacinth.<\/p>\n

And-<\/p>\n

\"001\"<\/a><\/p>\n

violets that Jordan picked for me!<\/p>\n

In my kitchen\u2026<\/p>\n

\"001\"<\/a><\/p>\n

are kid sized snacks.<\/p>\n

In my kitchen\u2026<\/p>\n

\"009\"<\/a>\"010\"<\/a><\/p>\n

are cow embroidered hot pads-  I love cows.<\/p>\n

In my kitchen\u2026<\/p>\n

is a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and pecans.<\/p>\n

In my kitchen\u2026<\/p>\n

is a fig and almond loaf.<\/p>\n

\"012\"<\/a><\/p>\n

and more bread.<\/p>\n

In my kitchen\u2026<\/p>\n

is this homemade Dilly Ranch Dressing \u2013 a gift from a blog<\/p>\n

friend for Christmas.  I made a dip for the vegetable plate at<\/p>\n

the top of this post with this mixture and it is so yummy!<\/p>\n

One of the secret ingredients- or should I say, unexpected ingredients,<\/p>\n

in the mix is saltine crackers!  They add thickening to the dip or dressing<\/p>\n

and an extra base flavor.  I will find out the proportions and share the <\/p>\n

recipe if you are interested.<\/p>\n
