{"id":6217,"date":"2012-08-15T09:27:29","date_gmt":"2012-08-15T13:27:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/?p=6217"},"modified":"2012-08-15T09:27:29","modified_gmt":"2012-08-15T13:27:29","slug":"international-scone-fortnight-3-dried-cherry-and-chocolate-scones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=6217","title":{"rendered":"International Scone Fortnight- #3\u2013 Dried Cherry and Chocolate Scones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/010.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"010\" border=\"0\" alt=\"010\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/010_thumb.jpg\" width=\"531\" height=\"355\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I got this recipe from my niece, <a href=\"http:\/\/theweinhardts.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Martha<\/a>&#8211; and they are delicious.<\/p>\n<p>Especially when paired with a Cardamom Blackberry Pavlova ( recipe later, after scone fortnight).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/0092.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"009\" border=\"0\" alt=\"009\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/009_thumb2.jpg\" width=\"543\" height=\"363\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is her recipe-<\/p>\n<p>Cherry-Chocolate Scones    <br \/>2 1\/2 c whole wheat pastry flour    <br \/>1 c flour    <br \/>1\/4 c sugar    <br \/>1\/4 c brown sugar    <br \/>1 tsp baking powder    <br \/>1 tsp baking sodaFi    <br \/>1\/2 tsp salt    <br \/>1 stick butter, cold    <br \/>3\/4 c dried cherries    <br \/>3\/4 c chocolate chips    <br \/>1 egg    <br \/>1 c buttermilk    <br \/>2 tsp vanilla extract    <br \/>milk and coarse sugar for the tops<\/p>\n<p>Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter. Add cherries and chocolate, stir with fork. Combine liquid<\/p>\n<p> ingredients and whisk. Pour into dry ingredients and stir lightly with a fork till evenly moistened.<\/p>\n<p> Knead two or three times on work surface. Separate into 2 balls, pat each lightly into an 8-inch circle,<\/p>\n<p> cut into 8 wedges. Place on greased cookie sheet. Brush with milk and sprinkle with coarse sugar.<\/p>\n<p> Bake at 375 20-25 minutes.
