{"id":5913,"date":"2012-05-23T09:20:20","date_gmt":"2012-05-23T13:20:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/?p=5913"},"modified":"2012-05-23T09:20:20","modified_gmt":"2012-05-23T13:20:20","slug":"sourdough-flapjacks-with-blue-berry-syrup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=5913","title":{"rendered":"Sourdough flapjacks with Blue berry syrup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/0022.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"002\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/002_thumb2.jpg\" alt=\"002\" width=\"528\" height=\"353\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I made breakfast this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Usually my husband makes the coffee, tea and toast that we have each morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/011.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"011\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/011_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"011\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But yesterday, when I was feeding my sourdough starter, I realized<\/p>\n<p>I had too much starter to fit into my container jar.<\/p>\n<p>Much too much- and so I poured two cups into a<\/p>\n<p>cup and determined to make sourdough pancakes this morning.<\/p>\n<p>The recipe is quite simple.<\/p>\n<p>Feed two cups of starter with one cup of bread or AP flour and one cup of water the night<\/p>\n<p>before and cover.\u00a0 The next morning add the following ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>1 beaten egg<\/p>\n<p>2 TBS oil<\/p>\n<p>2 TBS sugar<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 tsp salt<\/p>\n<p>And enough flour to make a batter<\/p>\n<p>(I used about 3\/4 cup)<\/p>\n<p>Mix well together \u2013 until smooth- heat griddle until quite hot<\/p>\n<p>(so that water sizzles when spattered into pan)<\/p>\n<p>And at the last minute, mix 1\/2 tsp baking soda with 1 TBS warm water<\/p>\n<p>and stir into batter.\u00a0 Do not stir again.\u00a0 Pour batter onto griddle<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/0052.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"005\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/005_thumb2.jpg\" alt=\"005\" width=\"458\" height=\"307\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and turn when many bubbles form on top.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/0072.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"007\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/007_thumb2.jpg\" alt=\"007\" width=\"457\" height=\"306\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The flapjacks are very light and delicious-<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/0091.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"009\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/009_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"009\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/0081.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"008\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/008_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"008\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>especially when you top them with homemade blueberry syrup and butter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/0111.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"011\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/011_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"011\" width=\"465\" height=\"695\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Taking good care of sourdough starter means that sometimes you have to sacrifice<\/p>\n<p>and throw away some of the starter- OR- have sourdough flapjacks in the morning<\/p>\n<p>instead of toast.\u00a0 YUM- I like the second option!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made breakfast this morning.
