{"id":5480,"date":"2012-03-03T11:38:34","date_gmt":"2012-03-03T15:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/2012\/03\/in-my-kitchen-march-2012\/"},"modified":"2012-03-03T11:38:34","modified_gmt":"2012-03-03T15:38:34","slug":"in-my-kitchen-march-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=5480","title":{"rendered":"In My Kitchen- March 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just putting up the title made me think of myself<\/p>\n<p>as a child.\u00a0 By 2012 I would have imagined a fully<\/p>\n<p>automated kitchen- like something out of Star Trek-<\/p>\n<p>with replicators and requesting a gourmet meal from<\/p>\n<p>the computerized oven.<\/p>\n<p>But \u2013 right now- I have nothing like that in my kitchen!<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what I do have\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/010.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"010\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/010_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"010\" width=\"421\" height=\"282\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In my kitchen there is honey- lately I\u2019ve been liking the thick and very<\/p>\n<p>flavorful honey that Meredith sends from Australia.\u00a0 Not sure if their bees<\/p>\n<p>are just better at making a dense and thick honey or if it\u2019s in the way they<\/p>\n<p>process it- but it makes our American honey seem more like a weak syrup!<\/p>\n<p>I not only have honey in my kitchen- but all kinds of honey kitsch.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/013.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"017\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/017_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"017\" width=\"164\" height=\"244\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>a couple of honey pots, and this little<\/p>\n<p>honey bear bee doll that is made of a chenille bed cover.<\/p>\n<p>In my kitchen\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"005\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/005_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"005\" width=\"379\" height=\"254\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>is a pan of brownies.<\/p>\n<p>Not Dan Lepard\u2019s sweet potato brownies- in fact- not anyone\u2019s famous<\/p>\n<p>brownies.\u00a0 Just an old favorite recipe that I\u2019ve used most of my life.<\/p>\n<p>Honestly, brownies are made up of sugar, eggs, butter, chocolate and flour.<\/p>\n<p>And they almost all taste really yummy.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s my tried and true recipe that you are free to use and share-<\/p>\n<p>ingredients-<\/p>\n<p>2 cups sugar- I use\u00a0 cup brown and 1 cup white granulated<\/p>\n<p>1 cup flour- I use AP\/plain flour- but feel free to use Whole wheat or graham flour<\/p>\n<p>4 large eggs<\/p>\n<p>pinch of salt<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp vanilla- I use my homemade vanilla- use whatever you have and like<\/p>\n<p>4 squares unsweetened chocolate- or 8 oz. choc chips- or a bar of good dark 85% chocolate<\/p>\n<p>1 cup butter- or margarine, melted<\/p>\n<p>method:<\/p>\n<p>Grease and flour 9&#215;13 pan.<\/p>\n<p>Melt chocolate and butter together in microwave or in sauce pan- be careful not to burn it.<\/p>\n<p>Beat eggs and sugar together until thick and light-colored, making sure that sugar is dissolved.<\/p>\n<p>Add chocolate mixture to egg mixture- beat until well mixed.<\/p>\n<p>Mix in flour salt and vanilla (I add 1 cup of chopped walnuts at this time, as well.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bake until tester comes out clean.\u00a0 <\/strong>Cut while warm, then remove from pan when cool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baking temperature :350\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Baking time :\u00a0 35 minutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"026\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/026_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"026\" width=\"525\" height=\"351\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>is a stash of coffee from all over the globe, Sumatra, Hawaii, Ethiopia, and where ever<\/p>\n<p>Gevalia gathers it <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile\" style=\"border-style: none;\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/wlEmoticon-smile.png\" alt=\"Smile\" \/> &#8211; and a wonderful cast iron coffee grinder.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/027.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"027\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/027_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"027\" width=\"461\" height=\"690\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have used the grinder many times- but not always for coffee.<\/p>\n<p>The last time I used it was to grind up the rhizomes for orris root to use in potpourri.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think orris root is dangerous, but I\u2019d like to clean out the grinder before I use<\/p>\n<p>it for anything meant for human consumption again.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/051.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"053\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/053_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"053\" width=\"156\" height=\"105\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In my kitchen are these little candies I made up with white chocolate disks, yellow<\/p>\n<p>m +m\u2019s and bits of pretzel sticks.\u00a0 I made them as a joke, because my husband<\/p>\n<p>ALWAYS wants bacon and eggs in the morning.\u00a0 But they are really tasty and easy to<\/p>\n<p>make up quickly.\u00a0 I am going to get some more m +m\u2019s to make up a whole batch!<\/p>\n<p>And in my kitchen\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/028.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none;
