{"id":5160,"date":"2011-12-12T17:39:19","date_gmt":"2011-12-12T21:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/2011\/12\/pizzelles-a-recipe\/"},"modified":"2011-12-12T17:39:19","modified_gmt":"2011-12-12T21:39:19","slug":"pizzelles-a-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=5160","title":{"rendered":"Pizzelles- a recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/0071.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"007\" border=\"0\" alt=\"007\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/007_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"467\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They cook up like waffles- only much thinner and crispier.<\/p>\n<p>They are crunchy and aromatic and taste like anise.<\/p>\n<p>You make them two at a time- so it takes a LONG time to make 3 1\/2 dozen.&#160; It takes <\/p>\n<p>twice as long to make 7 dozen and you burn a lot if you get involved in multi-tasking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/0081.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"008\" border=\"0\" alt=\"008\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/008_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"478\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But when everything goes right and they come out golden and delicious- they can<\/p>\n<p>be addicting.&#160; My husband ate 5 while we were talking about the upcoming wedding<\/p>\n<p>of our nephew the other day.&#160; He had his hand out for the sixth and I asked him to <\/p>\n<p>slow down- he was eating them faster than I could make them!<\/p>\n<p>So- here\u2019s the recipe I used.<\/p>\n<p>3 large eggs<\/p>\n<p>3\/4 cup granulated white sugar<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 tsp anise extract <\/p>\n<p>1 tsp&#160; vanilla<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup melted butter<\/p>\n<p>1 3\/4 cups flour<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp baking powder<\/p>\n<p>small pinch of salt<\/p>\n<p>Beat the eggs and sugar together until&#160; all the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is<\/p>\n<p>just a little stringy.&#160; Add vanilla and anise extract ( you can leave out the anise if you<\/p>\n<p>prefer just a vanilla flavor).&#160; Add just a bit of the melted butter, beat it in well and then<\/p>\n<p>add the rest of the butter.&#160; Sift together the flour and baking powder and add !\/4&#160; cup at<\/p>\n<p>a time with your mixer on low so that the flour doesn\u2019t jump back up at you.<\/p>\n<p>Add salt at end and give it one more mix.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>Preheat the pizzelle iron- waiting until the red light turns green and then lightly oil and <\/p>\n<p>place one largish teaspoon of batter ( it will be rather stiff) into the center of the round.<\/p>\n<p>Close down lid and wait until the light turns red and then back to green and open top- about 2 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Place on wire cooling rack until stiff and cooled and then stack them up!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/0101.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"010\" border=\"0\" alt=\"010\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/010_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"463\" height=\"693\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I only paid about $12 for the iron a couple of years ago- it was a good investment!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They cook up like waffles- only much thinner and crispier.
