<\/a><\/p>\nI have some nice basil still growing, but the squash and cucumber and<\/p>\n nasturtium have been beheaded. So sad.<\/p>\n On the other hand- the hanging baskets and flowers and ferns are<\/p>\n all doing fine. I\u2019ve been watering- although I don\u2019t like to- it is such<\/p>\n a selfish use of water.<\/strong> So I\u2019ve tried to keep it just to container plants-<\/p>\n never the lawn or established plants.<\/p>\n I snipped the sucker growth off of the bay tree.<\/p>\n It is a standard- and every year the roots try to send up<\/p>\n a little extra growth from the base. I love fresh bay-<\/p>\n you can chop it up fine and leave it in your recipes. It<\/p>\n isn\u2019t as strong as dried bay leaves, but it adds an extra<\/p>\n punch because it is still present.<\/p>\n And last night\u2019s supper was quite fine- the fresh corn, tomatoes,<\/p>\n peppers, onions and grilled squash really fine. The steak and potatoes<\/p>\n were necessary to keep my husband happy.
