Psalm 121<\/h6>\n
A Song of Ascents.<\/h6>\n

1<\/sup> I will lift up my eyes to the hills
         From whence comes my help?
2<\/sup> My help comes<\/i> from the Lord
         Who made heaven and earth.
3<\/sup> He will not allow your foot to be moved;
         He who keeps you will not slumber.
4<\/sup> Behold, He who keeps Israel
         Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5<\/sup> The LORD is<\/i> your keeper;
         The LORD is<\/i> your shade at your right hand.
6<\/sup> The sun shall not strike you by day,
         Nor the moon by night.
7<\/sup> The LORD shall preserve you from all evil;
         He shall preserve your soul.
8<\/sup> The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in
         From this time forth, and even forevermore.<\/p>\n

Psalm 91 is referred to as the psalm of The safety of abiding in the presence of God,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

this psalm should be sub titled as finding God\u2019s presence.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

It is a psalm of ascents, of religious pilgrims climbing towards the temple mount to worship.<\/em><\/p>\n

My Bible titles it,  God the help of those who seek him.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Whereas Psalm 91 speaks to the protection God the Father provides for His Son, this psalm<\/em><\/p>\n

refers to the protection He provides His children.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI will lift up my eyes to the hills<\/em><\/p>\n

from whence comes my help?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Why does the psalmist look to the hills?<\/em><\/p>\n

Because it is a throw back to an ancient patriarchal worship site-<\/em><\/p>\n

Abraham\u2019s mount Moriah; Jacob\u2019s Bethel and Shiloh where the ark of the covenant rested<\/em><\/p>\n

during the time of the judges.  <\/em><\/p>\n

A place where rocks could be found to build an altar for a whole burnt offering.<\/em><\/p>\n

Just as God could keep His Son from having His foot dashed against a rock,<\/em><\/p>\n

our God could keep our feet from slipping .<\/em><\/p>\n

His care is constant day and night.<\/em><\/p>\n

It is as constant as the ordinances of the sun and the moon, which<\/em><\/p>\n

He created and as His authority over them.  He has extended<\/em><\/p>\n

it over us as well \u2013 even as \u201c the shade at our right hand.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

His presence preserves us from evil; His presence is not stationary- it<\/em><\/p>\n

is mobile  It preserves our\u201dgoing out and coming in.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

It endures forever \u201cfrom this time forth and even forever more.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
