{"id":876,"date":"2009-11-26T01:12:15","date_gmt":"2009-11-26T05:12:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/?p=876"},"modified":"2009-11-26T01:12:15","modified_gmt":"2009-11-26T05:12:15","slug":"random-pictures-and-recipes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=876","title":{"rendered":"Random pictures and recipes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Probably too late for this year- although I think you could do a batch of the brandied cranberries today and not miss a beat.&nbsp; And it is SO worth making a batch of these.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-022.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"180\" alt=\"Thanksgiving preparation 022\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-022_thumb.jpg\" width=\"239\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Brandy,cranberries, orange peel, sugar, and I added a dollop of orange marmalade.&nbsp; These are seriously good- even if you don&#8217;t like cranberries-&nbsp; seriously good.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<h4>Brandied Cranberries Recipe<\/h4>\n<h5>Ingredients<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>1 (12-ounce) bag of fresh or frozen <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cranberry\">cranberries<\/a>\n<li>1 1\/4 cups sugar (or substitute Splenda for half of the sugar)\n<li>1\/2 cup brandy\n<li>2 TBS&nbsp; finely chopped orange zest <\/li>\n<li>2 heaping TBS orange marmalade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Method<\/h5>\n<p><b>1<\/b> Preheat oven to 325\u00b0F. Sort through cranberries and discard any that are soft or decayed. <\/p>\n<p><b>2<\/b> Mix cranberries, sugar, brandy, and orange zest in a 8 or 9-inch baking dish. Bake uncovered until most of the liquid has evaporated, 1 to 1 1\/2 hours, stirring occasionally. <\/p>\n<p>Makes 2 cups. Chill up to one week. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-025.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; <\/p>\n<p>I just ate one berry- and it is &#8220;oh my goodness&#8221; good.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; honey whole wheat bread, cornmeal bread, and half a loaf of rustic white bread.&nbsp; This is the best stuffing I&#8217;ve ever made.&nbsp; The bread made&nbsp; all of the difference.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"180\" alt=\"Thanksgiving preparation 006\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-006_thumb.jpg\" width=\"239\" border=\"0\"> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Random comment about parsley&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The French cooks use only the leaves and short stems of parley in their dishes.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian chefs use the entire stem, chopping it fine and going for a more robust flavor.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Slovak with Germanic influences-&nbsp; I used mostly the leaves, but I picked through the stems for the more delicate ones and chopped them up as well.<a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-007.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"180\" alt=\"Thanksgiving preparation 007\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-007_thumb.jpg\" width=\"239\" border=\"0\"><\/a> Because 2 bunches was just barely enough for the huge bowl of bread crumbs.<\/p>\n<p>I used my own herbs rather than poultry seasoning, as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Thanksgiving-preparation-008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px;
