border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"009\" border=\"0\" alt=\"009\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/009_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"542\" height=\"363\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>&#160;<\/em>I found this book at our local used book shop\/funding literacy campaign.<\/p>\n<p>It was torn and they were going to toss it, but I loved the illustrations- needlework with antique<\/p>\n<p>fabrics, sequins and felt.<\/p>\n<p>So I rescued the book, cut out the torn page( thankfully it didn\u2019t affect the story) taped two pages<\/p>\n<p>together to make it whole, and then I made the two felted sea horses to go with the story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/0041.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"004\" border=\"0\" alt=\"004\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/004_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"331\" height=\"495\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>When I began felting my wool pieces some years ago, I wanted<\/p>\n<p>to try out the process and used a pair of gold wool slippers I had<\/p>\n<p>knitted but was not fond of- and they became a very small pair of<\/p>\n<p>gold wool slippers that I had no real use for anymore.&#160;&#160; But I didn\u2019t <\/p>\n<p>throw them away, because I like the texture and the reminder of<\/p>\n<p>how much wool shrinks when felted.<\/p>\n<p>So I rummaged through my old fabric trunk, came up with some sheets<\/p>\n<p>of yellow felt and appliqued the seahorses onto the slipper.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/0031.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"003\" border=\"0\" alt=\"003\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/003_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"561\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I added some identifying stitches, an eye and sequins.<\/p>\n<p>I used the pictures from the book to make the pattern for the <\/p>\n<p>Sea horses- I wanted them to add to the fun of identifying the <\/p>\n<p>hidden or Secret sea horses throughout the book.<\/p>\n<p><p>We sent them off on Monday to Oyster Bay- I\u2019m hoping the little boys<\/p>\n<p>enjoy the book in person as much as they did when I read it to them on Skype.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/0201.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"020\" border=\"0\" alt=\"020\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/020_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a> And then \u2013 because I had gotten rid of a pair<\/p>\n<p>of slippers, I made another pair.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/0211.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"021\" border=\"0\" alt=\"021\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/021_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/022.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"022\" border=\"0\" alt=\"022\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/022_thumb.jpg\" width=\"109\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I crocheted some faux fur on the edges- they remind me of lions.<\/p>\n<p>And now I\u2019m going to knit a couple of hats- I found a pattern I can follow<\/p>\n<p>and like- and am going to teach my niece to make a knitted hat over the<\/p>\n<p>next week.&#160;&#160;
