{"id":5094,"date":"2011-11-25T00:53:02","date_gmt":"2011-11-25T04:53:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/2011\/11\/a-perfect-day-for-this\/"},"modified":"2011-11-25T00:53:02","modified_gmt":"2011-11-25T04:53:02","slug":"a-perfect-day-for-this","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=5094","title":{"rendered":"A perfect day for this \u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was Thanksgiving today in America!<\/p>\n<p>I made my usual sausage and walnut stuffing.<\/p>\n<p>And 4 dozen dinner rolls.<\/p>\n<p>And a pumpkin pie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But it was also the 36th anniversary of our wedding for my husband and myself-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>and I had my heart set on this-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/021.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"021\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/021_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"021\" width=\"488\" height=\"327\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>a Berry Meringue tart!<\/p>\n<p>I got the recipe <a href=\"http:\/\/cityhippyfarmgirl.com\/2011\/11\/15\/birthday-thinking-and-a-berry-meringue-tart\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> at cityhippiefarmgirl\u2019s\u00a0 blog.\u00a0 And I\u2019ve been thinking about it<\/p>\n<p>ever since.\u00a0\u00a0 Meredith was here for our celebration and since her next stop is Canberra,<\/p>\n<p>Australia, I decided to make a version of the Pavlova for her.<\/p>\n<p>Pavlova\u2019s are a distinctly Australian ( and New Zealand) treat and they usually don\u2019t<\/p>\n<p>have a pastry shell.\u00a0 But Brydie\u2019s looked so good I couldn\u2019t get it out of my mind.<\/p>\n<p>I started off with a short pastry crust- I made a regular pie dough ( 2 1\/2 cups flour, 1 stick<\/p>\n<p>cold butter, 1 tsp salt, 1\/4 cup ice water) and then I rolled it out and place another stick of<\/p>\n<p>unsalted butter in a thin layer on the dough.\u00a0 Then I folded it in thirds, and then folded<\/p>\n<p>it into thirds again and refrigerated it.\u00a0 When it was cold I took it out and rolled it out and<\/p>\n<p>placed it into a deep dish pie plate and baked it after scoring the surface with a fork in<\/p>\n<p>quite a few places.<\/p>\n<p>When it cooled I mixed together whipped cream and marscapone cheese and about 1\/4<\/p>\n<p>cup sugar and put a light layer of this on the bottom of the crust.<\/p>\n<p>Then I made meringues-<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/019.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"019\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/019_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"019\" width=\"457\" height=\"306\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and placed them on top of the layer of cream and cheese.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/0181.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5096\" title=\"018\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/0181-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And then I piled the rest of the whipped cream mixture on top,<\/p>\n<p>added the berries and sprinkled sugar over the top.<\/p>\n<p>It was delicious!\u00a0 I cut the tart into 10 pieces and the adults all<\/p>\n<p>had a piece.\u00a0 Most had never had Pavlova before- and they loved<\/p>\n<p>it!\u00a0 I am making this again.\u00a0 Maybe for Christmas.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5097\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/0221.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5097\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5097\" title=\"022\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/0221-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"meringue berry tart\" width=\"590\" height=\"392\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5097\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The blackberries and strawberries made a stunning display- and were perfect together.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Because this is my new favorite dessert!<\/p>\n<p>Thanks, Brydie!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was Thanksgiving today in America!
