Psalm 43<\/h4>\n

Give judgement for me, O God,
\ntake up my cause against an ungodly people :
\ndeliver me from deceitful and wicked men.
\nFor you are God my refuge
\nwhy have you turned me away? :
\nwhy must I go like a mourner because the enemy oppresses me?
\nO send out your light and your truth, and let them lead me :
\nlet them guide me to your holy hill and to your dwelling.
\nThen I shall go to the altar of God,
\nto God my joy and my delight :
\nand to the harp I shall sing your praises,
\nO God, my God.
\nWhy are you so full of heaviness, my soul :
\nand why so unquiet within me?
\nO put your trust in God :
\nfor I will praise him yet, who is my deliverer and my God.<\/p>\n

This is the psalm we read at my son, Luke\u2019s, ordination last Saturday.<\/em><\/p>\n

It was a very special day- the beginning of his lifetime desire to serve<\/em><\/p>\n

the Lord and God\u2019s people.\u00a0 His journey took him into the Episcopal Church<\/em><\/p>\n

where he is now a priest.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

We traveled by plane, because the roads in Eastern Pennsylvania were <\/em><\/p>\n

washed out.\u00a0 There were extra inspections because it was Sept. 11,2011-<\/em><\/p>\n

And the planes weren\u2019t very full- because not a lot of people were traveling<\/em><\/p>\n

by plane on that particular weekend. <\/em><\/p>\n

And we were privileged to play a part in the ordination- Frank and I were presenters-<\/em><\/p>\n

(along with several mentoring priests),\u00a0 standing before the bishop, we said,<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201d<\/em>Lawrence, Bishop in the Church of God, on behalf of the clergy and people of the Diocese of <\/em><\/p>\n

Long Island, we present to you Lucas Franklin Fodor to be ordained a priest in Christ\u2019s holy<\/p>\n

catholic Church .<\/p>\n

Then, after the bishop questioned us further-<\/em><\/p>\n

We certify to you that he has satisfied the requirements of the canons, and we believe him <\/em><\/p>\n

qualified for this order.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

And then after much prayer and song, and the laying on of hands, and the reading of <\/em><\/p>\n

this psalm and other scripture, <\/em><\/p>\n

Luke got this great big hug of welcome from the bishop.<\/em><\/p>\n

There was <\/em>a whole lot of liturgy going on- and at the end- we had Communion. <\/em><\/p>\n

It was a beautiful ceremony and I loved it- seeing my son become a priest.<\/em><\/p>\n

But the very best part happened the next morning.\u00a0 When we went to the morning service,<\/em><\/p>\n

Luke served the communion- I don\u2019t have the correct terms- but you know what I mean.<\/em><\/p>\n

And at the end of the service, the rector, David Ware, and Luke came down the aisle together,<\/em><\/p>\n

as we waited in our pews for the last song.\u00a0 And they were smiling and bumping shoulders<\/em><\/p>\n

as they walked together- FILLED with the the joy of the Lord!\u00a0 The looks on their faces were so happy-<\/em><\/p>\n

like something you would see on a soccer field when one of them has just scored the winning<\/em><\/p>\n

goal.<\/em><\/p>\n

Seeing them like that, brought back the words of this psalm, Psalm 43,<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201dO send out your light and your truth, and let them lead me :
\nlet them guide me to your holy hill and to your dwelling.
\nThen I shall go to the altar of God,
\nto God my joy and my delight : \u201c<\/p>\n

I wish I had taken my camera on Sunday morning- because that is the picture<\/em><\/p>\n

I most want to post.\u00a0 You will have to see it in your mind\u2019s eye.<\/em><\/p>\n
