{"id":4816,"date":"2011-09-16T15:41:57","date_gmt":"2011-09-16T19:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/2011\/09\/feeding-the-russians-on-the-roof\/"},"modified":"2011-09-16T15:41:57","modified_gmt":"2011-09-16T19:41:57","slug":"feeding-the-russians-on-the-roof","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=4816","title":{"rendered":"Feeding the Russians on the roof."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was one of those days.<\/p>\n<p>Things just weren\u2019t going right.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m still not feeling well after getting blitzed with<\/p>\n<p>a bug on our plane trip to New York.<\/p>\n<p>The internet connection went out after I had finished<\/p>\n<p>up on Facebook, but before I had gotten to read even one<\/p>\n<p>of my daily blogs.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s cold.&#160; Generally I like cold.<\/p>\n<p>But not when I\u2019m sick and shivering with the cold.<\/p>\n<p>There was a terrible banging in my head and over my head.<\/p>\n<p>We are getting a new roof.<\/p>\n<p>And these guys were here quite early banging and hammering<\/p>\n<p>on the roof.<\/p>\n<p>So, I decided to make some chicken soup to make me happier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/0031.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"003\" border=\"0\" alt=\"003\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/003_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"392\" height=\"263\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That has helped considerably.<\/p>\n<p>Next I set about getting back on the net.&#160; Checked out my system- clear.<\/p>\n<p>Checked out the black box- plugged in and solid green lights- clear.<\/p>\n<p>Checked out the router box- unplugged!<\/p>\n<p>BAD!&#160; I plugged it back in and realized the roofers had started banging <\/p>\n<p>and hammering just before I lost service.<\/p>\n<p>Decided to forgive them for a frustration they didn\u2019t realize they caused-<\/p>\n<p>knocking my plug out of the socket with all their pounding.<\/p>\n<p>So I baked them some chocolate chip cookies.<\/p>\n<p>They are a crew of Russians who don\u2019t speak much English.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/0043.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"004\" border=\"0\" alt=\"004\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/004_thumb3.jpg\" width=\"397\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"002\" border=\"0\" alt=\"002\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/002_thumb.jpg\" width=\"402\" height=\"269\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But they are very fluent in Chocolate chip cookies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/0053.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"005\" border=\"0\" alt=\"005\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/005_thumb3.jpg\" width=\"430\" height=\"288\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And now my day is just a lot better.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/0074.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"007\" border=\"0\" alt=\"007\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/007_thumb4.jpg\" width=\"433\" height=\"290\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Especially since my husband came home and started clearing up the roofing<\/p>\n<p>mess all about the yard-<a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/0082.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"008\" border=\"0\" alt=\"008\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/008_thumb2.jpg\" width=\"292\" height=\"436\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the Russians decided to finish up tomorrow so the banging and <\/p>\n<p>hammering has finally stopped.<\/p>\n<p>Funny how chicken soup and chocolate chip cookies can make your day happier.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was one of those days.
