1-4<\/sup> The God-rebel tunes in to sedition\u2014 all ears, eager to sin. There has been so much violence in our world.<\/em><\/p>\n OK- I know- there has ALWAYS been violence- but<\/em><\/p>\n what with the wars and the riots and the senseless<\/em><\/p>\n murders and mayhem that have been in our own<\/em><\/p>\n neighborhoods\u2026 in our face\u2026 it seems to have<\/em><\/p>\n escalated of late.<\/em><\/p>\n David wrote this of his times.<\/em><\/p>\n When he’s loose on the streets, And if it was true then- well it is, if anything,<\/em><\/p>\n truer NOW!<\/em><\/p>\n Then we look at verses 6-10 and what comfort<\/em><\/p>\n there is in turning our vision from the rebels- the<\/em><\/p>\n God haters- and looking towards God, Himself.<\/em><\/p>\n I love the descriptions he offers of God\u2019s love, loyalty,<\/em><\/p>\n purpose and verdicts: meteoric- astronomic-titanic and <\/em><\/p>\n oceanic.\u00a0 Ginormous!\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n And yet, so lovingly concerned with us, that not a man, not<\/em><\/p>\n even a mouse slips through the cracks of His attention. <\/em><\/p>\n And then after praising the Lord for His wonderful love,<\/em><\/p>\n David returns to his own problems; THE BULLIES!<\/em><\/p>\n And isn\u2019t that the way we all are?<\/em><\/p>\n I am.\u00a0 I want my problems to be remembered and taken <\/em><\/p>\n care of- and I\u2019m so glad that I\u2019m not alone in my <\/em><\/p>\n selfish concern.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know that God will cause my <\/em><\/p>\n enemies to go sprawling in the mud.<\/em><\/p>\n After all-<\/em><\/p>\n I\u2019m supposed to pray for them .<\/em><\/p>\n But it is nice to know that I\u2019m not the only one who<\/em><\/p>\n sometimes wishes they would get their own back.<\/em><\/p>\n Do you know what I mean?<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Psalm 36 A David Psalm 1-4 The God-rebel tunes in to sedition\u2014 all ears, eager to sin. \nhe stands insolent before him.
\nHe has smooth-talked himself
\ninto believing
\nThat his evil
\nwill never be noticed.
\nWords gutter from his mouth,
\ndishwater dirty.
\nCan’t remember when he
\ndid anything decent.
\nEvery time he goes to bed,
\nhe fathers another evil plot.
\nWhen he’s loose on the streets,
\nnobody’s safe.
\nHe plays with fire
\nand doesn’t care who gets burned.
\n5-6<\/sup> God’s love is meteoric,
\nhis loyalty astronomic,
\nHis purpose titanic,
\nhis verdicts oceanic.
\nYet in his largeness
\nnothing gets lost;
\nNot a man, not a mouse,
\nslips through the cracks.
\n7-9<\/sup> How exquisite your love, O God!
\nHow eager we are to run under your wings,
\nTo eat our fill at the banquet you spread
\nas you fill our tankards with Eden spring water.
\nYou’re a fountain of cascading light,
\nand you open our eyes to light.
\n10-12<\/sup> Keep on loving your friends;
\ndo your work in welcoming hearts.
\nDon’t let the bullies kick me around,
\nthe moral midgets slap me down.
\nSend the upstarts sprawling
\nflat on their faces in the mud.<\/p>\n
