copying down familiar and repeated stanzas.\u00a0 The students<\/p>\n
were all encouraged to pay close attention to the language<\/p>\n
of the psalmists and were told that at the culmination of our<\/p>\n
study- they would be asked to write a psalm of their own.<\/p>\n
The average age of our class was about 70- a couple were in the<\/p>\n
range of 35 to 45, several of us in our fifties, some in their sixties,<\/p>\n
several in their late seventies and early eighties and two in their<\/p>\n
nineties.\u00a0 We had lots of years of experience in our classroom-<\/p>\n
and many of the ladies had been believers for 50+ years.\u00a0 It was<\/p>\n
a wonderful group to study and share with!<\/p>\n
The oldest lady in our group was Mae.<\/p>\n
Mae is still living and loving the Lord, but her health has<\/p>\n
been on a decline of late and she can\u2019t live by herself<\/p>\n
anymore, even with help.<\/p>\n
So, her family is moving her closer to them and I went recently<\/p>\n
to say goodbye to my old friend.<\/p>\n
I wrote Mae\u2019s psalm for her after asking her to tell me what<\/p>\n she would like to say.\u00a0 Today\u2019s psalm is<\/p>\n \u201cA Psalm for Mae\u201d.<\/p>\n From my earliest childhood, I called you Father,<\/em><\/p>\n And I call you Father, still.<\/em><\/p>\n You have held my hand and filled my heart-<\/em><\/p>\n And you hold them now \u2013 still in your protection-<\/em><\/p>\n Still in your love.\u00a0 I am still yours and by <\/em><\/p>\n Your grace I always will be.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Father,\u00a0 you have blessed my life with your goodness.<\/em><\/p>\n And I have tried to pass that blessing on-<\/em><\/p>\n With hugs and love and even with bananas.<\/em><\/p>\n Because what is life without blessings?<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n This life that you have given me has been long,<\/em><\/p>\n But not long enough to sing your praises-<\/em><\/p>\n And so I will keep on singing here<\/em><\/p>\n Until You take me home so I can sing them<\/em><\/p>\n With all the saints in glory!<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Keep on singing, Mae!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I started off these psalm postings saying that I had just taught a class on the Psalms that had lasted for several years.\u00a0 We had a method for studying, and a notebook for copying down familiar and repeated stanzas.\u00a0 The … Continue reading ![\"Mae's](\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Maes-psalm-001_thumb.jpg\" "\\"Mae's")
