We spent 3 days talking and exploring and eating and <\/p>\n
driving about on the coast. It was a time out of time experience-<\/p>\n
never to be forgotten.<\/p>\n
Then on Tuesday, we went to Sandy, Oregon and spent<\/p>\n
some time with our cousins.<\/p>\n
On the way home, a man ran out in front of our car.<\/p>\n
It was dark, and he was in dark clothing and he hit the<\/p>\n
windshield and the rear window of the car and died a short<\/p>\n
time later. We were all stunned and shocked and covered<\/p>\n
with glass. <\/p>\n
This is also a time out of time experience and will never be forgotten.<\/p>\n
We are in mourning. <\/p>\n
But this also has a note of thankfulness in it.<\/p>\n
Because, none of us was hurt.<\/p>\n
Only very tiny cuts.<\/p>\n
And the chaplain for the police department was definitely <\/p>\n
Christ\u2019s representative on earth that night for us.<\/p>\n
Chaplain Dennis Simmons prayed, counseled, gave us<\/p>\n
a place to sit, bottles of water, sound advice, chased away<\/p>\n
the camera men from the local new station, comforted,<\/p>\n
and then at the end of a very long investigation, gave us<\/p>\n
all a ride home.<\/p>\n
Life is short.<\/p>\n
And full of unexpected turns and unfortunate occurrences.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m going to look for ways to encourage those in need.<\/p>\n
And pray for those in pain.<\/p>\n
And spend as much of my time doing things that will not<\/p>\n
be quickly forgotten.<\/p>\n
