{"id":4051,"date":"2011-04-24T09:09:10","date_gmt":"2011-04-24T13:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/?p=4051"},"modified":"2011-04-24T09:09:10","modified_gmt":"2011-04-24T13:09:10","slug":"psalm-22-guest-blog-by-frank-fodor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=4051","title":{"rendered":"Psalm 22- guest blog-by Frank Fodor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/0121.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"012\" border=\"0\" alt=\"012\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/012_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"324\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is holy week, a week of passion , so I chose the 22nd Psalm <\/p>\n<p>o look at.&#160; The psalm is one of being overwhelmed, which David<\/p>\n<p>feels, but interestingly, the Psalm skips down the Davidic line <\/p>\n<p>some 1000 years later and focuses on the Messiah, Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>From its beginning line, Jesus quotes in aramaic,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEli, Eli, lami sabaththani?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy God, my God, why have&#160; you forsaken me?<\/p>\n<p>Why are you so far from helping me? And from the words of<\/p>\n<p>my groaning?<\/p>\n<p>O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear.<\/p>\n<p>And in the night season, and am not silent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m sure at some point in our lives, we have all felt that way,<\/p>\n<p>but in spite of our feelings, it all comes down to trusting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c But you are holy, who inhabit the praises of Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Our fathers trusted in you, they trusted and you delivered<\/p>\n<p>them&#160; They cried to you and were delivered.&#160; They trusted in<\/p>\n<p>you and were not ashamed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In spite of our faith or the faith of our fathers the feeling still remains-<\/p>\n<p>\u201c But I am a worm and no man.&#160; A reproach of men and despised of the<\/p>\n<p>people.&#160; All those who see me laugh me to scorn.&#160; They shoot out the<\/p>\n<p>lip, saying, \u2018He trusted in the Lord let Him rescue Him;<\/p>\n<p>since He delights in Him!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Matthew records these exact events. (See Matthew 27: 42-43)<\/p>\n<p>Real faith is like the trust of a child.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c But you are He who took me out of the womb.<\/p>\n<p>You made me trust when I was on my mother\u2019s breasts.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>I was cast upon you from birth<\/p>\n<p>Adversity stares me in the face- many bulls have surrounded me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A reference to the Roman soldiers around the cross-<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStrong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bashan is the district east of Jordan, the exact location of the crucifixion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c They gape at me with their mouths .&#160; As a raging and roaring lion-<\/p>\n<p>( See Matthew 27- 27-31)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am poured out like water, and all my bones are our of joint;<\/p>\n<p>my heart is like a potsherd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Potsherd is broken pieces of earthen ware, it is what Job used to scratch<\/p>\n<p>himself with when he was in pain and misery.(Job 2:8)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy tongue clings to my jaws, you have brought me to the dust of death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thirst.\u201d John 19:28<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor dogs have surrounded me. The assembly of the wicked has enclosed me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dogs, a reference to Gentiles, see Matthew 15; 21-27.<\/p>\n<p>They pierce my hands and my feet, I can count all by bones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reference is to Jesus not having his legs broken.( See John 19:31-33)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey look and stare at me.&#160; They divide my garments among them<\/p>\n<p>and for my clothing they cast lots.\u201d- recorded by all four of the gospel writers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut you, O Lord, do not be far from me, O my Strength, hasten to help me<\/p>\n<p>Deliver me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog.<\/p>\n<p>Save me from the li<em>on\u2019s mouth and from the horns of the wild oxen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jesus\u2019 body was not mutilated or cast into a common grave as was normal<\/p>\n<p>for crucified criminals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c You have answered me.&#160; I will declare your name to my brethren.<\/p>\n<p>In the midst of the congregation I will praise You.<\/p>\n<p>You who fear the Lord, praise him!<\/p>\n<p>All the descendants of Jacob, glorify Him.<\/p>\n<p>And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!<\/p>\n<p>For he has not despised nor&#160; abhorred the affliction of the afflicted,<\/p>\n<p>nor has He hidden His face from him.&#160; But when me cried to him-<\/p>\n<p>He heard.&#160; My praise shall be of you in the great congregation;<\/p>\n<p>I will pay my vows before those who fear Him.&#160; The poor shall eat,<\/p>\n<p>and be satisfied;&#160; those who seek him will praise the Lord.<\/p>\n<p>Let your heart live forever!&#160; All the ends of the world shall<\/p>\n<p>remember and turn to the Lord.&#160; And all families of the nations<\/p>\n<p>shall worship before you.&#160; For the kingdom is the Lord\u2019s and He <\/p>\n<p>rules over the nations.\u201d (See Zechariah&#160; 14: 16,17)<\/p>\n<p> \u201cAll the prosperous of the earth shall eat and worship all those who <\/p>\n<p>go down to the dust shall bow before Him, even he who cannot keep himself<\/p>\n<p>alive.\u201d (See Philippians 2:5-11)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA posterity shall serve Him, I will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will<\/p>\n<p>be born, that he has done this.\u201d (See Hebrews 2: 10-13)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is holy week, a week of passion , so I chose the 22nd Psalm o look at.&#160; The psalm is one of being overwhelmed, which David feels, but interestingly, the Psalm skips down the Davidic line some 1000 years &hellip; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=4051\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[12],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4051","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-spiritualinsights"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4051","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=4051"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4051\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=4051"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=4051"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=4051"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
