border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"012\" border=\"0\" alt=\"012\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/012_thumb.jpg\" width=\"370\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am short.<\/p>\n<p>The tops of cupboards is a place I very rarely venture.<\/p>\n<p>I need a ladder to get there- and yet when I look up there I want<\/p>\n<p>to see something other than a bare wall (with cobwebs).<\/p>\n<p>And so, over the years, I have filled this space with bits of pieces<\/p>\n<p>that mean something to me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/0021.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"002\" border=\"0\" alt=\"002\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/002_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"251\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some of these things I\u2019ve picked up in antique stores, but more<\/p>\n<p>have been gifts- some of them created especially for me. <\/p>\n<p>And so, precious.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/010.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"010\" border=\"0\" alt=\"010\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/010_thumb.jpg\" width=\"391\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here I have glass decanters and&#160; vases that came from my mother\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>cache of stuff.&#160; Nothing of great value- except that I grew up with <\/p>\n<p>it and couldn\u2019t bring myself to throw it out after her death.<\/p>\n<p>The wooden platter is a part of my collection of treen- or handcrafted<\/p>\n<p>wooden pieces.&#160; The basket is a ceramic piece my mother made and <\/p>\n<p>gave me.&#160; And the cast iron rooster?&#160; I liked his cocky look at a local<\/p>\n<p>antique store.&#160; <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none\" class=\"wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile\" alt=\"Smile\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/wlEmoticon-smile.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/0061.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"006\" border=\"0\" alt=\"006\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/006_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"394\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The brass cup and bowl are from an antique store as well, but the <\/p>\n<p>brass candlesticks that started my collection were from my mother-<\/p>\n<p>to my sister- and on to me.&#160; The wooden vase was made by my brother,<\/p>\n<p>the vase came from my niece- a gift from her travels in Europe- and the <\/p>\n<p>pitcher a gift from an old friend.&#160; I love the look of lambs ears in grey and <\/p>\n<p>green.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/0111.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"011\" border=\"0\" alt=\"011\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/011_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"394\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These clay crocks are used most frequently from&#160; the collection.<\/p>\n<p>They hold coney sauce and baked beans- honey and herbed butters-<\/p>\n<p>sometimes soups and dips.&#160; I like crocks- they retain heat and are<\/p>\n<p>homey and useful.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"014\" border=\"0\" alt=\"014\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/014_thumb.jpg\" width=\"403\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This cookie jar is a collectable that was given to me by an old friend.<\/p>\n<p>I LIKE cows, and cookies, and collectibles, especially the McCoy ceramic<\/p>\n<p>pieces.&#160; The candlestick was a gift from my brother \u2013 the brass piece came<\/p>\n<p>with a lovely arrangement of flowers, the pitcher was from a set that<\/p>\n<p>included a syrup pitcher and a bag of pancake batter, and the last pitcher<\/p>\n<p>was stained and glazed by my mom.<\/p>\n<p>So \u2013 when I look up in my kitchen- I am greeted by the memories and<\/p>\n<p>love of friends and family.&#160;
