I\u2019ve been baking again.<\/p>\n

Not in my test kitchen- here at home.<\/p>\n

I MISS the double oven.<\/p>\n

Miss the convection oven.<\/p>\n

Miss the six burners on the gas range.<\/p>\n

But- this is where I live- and no one is going to bake me<\/p>\n

cookies, now are they?<\/p>\n

Yesterday I made peanut butter cookies, and the last of<\/p>\n

my grapeskin flour cookies.\u00a0 Last night I also made some<\/p>\n

lavender cookies, and I\u2019m planning on making some<\/p>\n

oatmeal cookies this evening.<\/p>\n

Because, when I don\u2019t make cookies, Frank goes out<\/p>\n

and buys them.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t like most store bought cookies.<\/p>\n

The lavender cookies turned out so good with the lavender<\/p>\n

I dipped the sides of the sugar in colored sugar and then imprinted a small<\/p>\n

star of color sugar in the center of the cookie.<\/p>\n

This is the first time I used culinary lavender and I am so impressed\u00a0 with the<\/p>\n

flavor!\u00a0 I have seen several cooking blogs that used lavender for a flavoring<\/p>\n

and they just used dried lavender- not separating the blossom from the<\/p>\n

calyx and I have had to move on quickly not to contradict their advice.<\/p>\n

But I want to so badly- because I used to make the same mistake- and really<\/p>\n

the lavender is overpowering and harsh.\u00a0 Using only the dried flower, the fragrance<\/p>\n

is still there, the flavor is subtle, and the cookie- DELICIOUS!<\/p>\n

So, if someone tells you to just dry your lavender and use the dried part to infuse<\/p>\n

sugar or to flavor cookies, smile gently, shake your head slightly and refer them<\/p>\n

to me.\u00a0 Because it makes that<\/span><\/em><\/strong> much of a difference.<\/p>\n
