{"id":3950,"date":"2011-04-02T10:50:39","date_gmt":"2011-04-02T14:50:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/?p=3950"},"modified":"2011-04-02T10:50:39","modified_gmt":"2011-04-02T14:50:39","slug":"baking-bread-and-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=3950","title":{"rendered":"Baking: Bread and cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This grape skin flour is so foreign to me.<\/p>\n<p>Gluten free and cocoa brown and with little flavor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/029.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"029\" border=\"0\" alt=\"029\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/029_thumb.jpg\" width=\"277\" height=\"414\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So far I\u2019m just not too impressed.<\/p>\n<p>I made a harvest bread with it, yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/004.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"004\" border=\"0\" alt=\"004\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/004_thumb.jpg\" width=\"276\" height=\"412\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not bad- but is it good?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all right.&#160; Just not great.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to try hazelnut cookies with it and then I\u2019ll let&#160; you know<\/p>\n<p>the final verdict.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/003.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"003\" border=\"0\" alt=\"003\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/003_thumb.jpg\" width=\"463\" height=\"310\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also made banana bread.<\/p>\n<p>I HATE bananas- the texture and the smell- YUCK!<\/p>\n<p>But my men keep buying and eating them despite my prejudiced<\/p>\n<p>opinion and sometimes we have these black spotted things (shudder) <\/p>\n<p>in my fruit bowl.&#160; So I mashed them up and made a very nice tea cake.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"001\" border=\"0\" alt=\"001\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/001_thumb.jpg\" width=\"353\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You could call it banana bread, but it has such a nice light texture- that<\/p>\n<p>I prefer calling it a tea cake.&#160; Here\u2019s the recipe.<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<p> 1\/2 cup margarine or butter, room temp.<\/p>\n<p>1 cup sugar<\/p>\n<p>2 large eggs<\/p>\n<p>3 TBS sour cream<\/p>\n<p>3 bananas, over-ripe and mashed<\/p>\n<p>1 1\/2 cups flour<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp soda<\/p>\n<p>1\/4 tsp salt<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup chopped nuts<\/p>\n<p>Method:<\/p>\n<p>Cream margarine and sugar.&#160; Beat in eggs. <\/p>\n<p>(If you want an extra light cake, divide eggs,<\/p>\n<p>whip whites, add yolks to batter, fold in whites after all <\/p>\n<p>ingredients have been added.)<\/p>\n<p>Add sour cream and bananas.&#160; Add dry ingredients, sifted.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in nuts.<\/p>\n<p>Grease and flour loaf pan<\/p>\n<p>Pour in batter till 2\/3 full.<\/p>\n<p>Bake at 350 degrees F&#160; for an hour.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"008\" border=\"0\" alt=\"008\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/008_thumb.jpg\" width=\"370\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And I made Sobao Pasiego- a sponge butter cake.<\/p>\n<p>More about those later. <a href=\"http:\/\/michelangelointhekitchen.blogspot.com\/2011\/03\/sobao-pasiego-spanish-regional-pastry.html\">Go here to see them done right!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Arthur writes one of my favorite food blogs- it is a delight<\/p>\n<p>to see anything he makes- Art is in the kitchen, indeed!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This grape skin flour is so foreign to me.
