1<\/sup> I lift up my eyes to the mountains\u2014 3<\/sup> He will not let your foot slip\u2014 5<\/sup> The LORD watches over you\u2014 7<\/sup> The LORD will keep you from all harm\u2014 I go to the psalms when I need comfort. When sleep eludes<\/em><\/p>\n me and the night is long and dark.<\/em><\/p>\n I go to the psalms when I am hungry for the presence of <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n the Lord. When I need reassurance of His loving care.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I go to the psalms when I am confronted with the evil around<\/em><\/p>\n me and the evil that I often harbor inside me, as well.<\/em><\/p>\n I go to the psalms to find words of worship and praise- so that<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n the fullness of my soul may be given voice.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I go to the psalms when I am caught in a web of despair.<\/em><\/p>\n I go to find the Author and Answer of hope.<\/em><\/p>\n I go to the psalms- because therein are the words and the <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Truth of our God displayed to fill the yearning of my heart.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The promise within the psalms are real. They will be and have<\/strong><\/p>\n been kept. But they are not always for each individual to claim.<\/strong><\/p>\n The promises in this psalm are meant for the nation of Israel-<\/p>\n God\u2019s servant. Israel- the bride He sought to make His own.<\/p>\n There is a study to go with this statement that follows the path<\/p>\n from the mountain with Abraham- to the altar of Jacob in Peniel <\/p>\n and on into the hills of Canaan. where does my help come from?
2<\/sup> My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth. <\/p>\n
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4<\/sup> indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep. <\/p>\n
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6<\/sup> the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night. <\/p>\n
he will watch over your life;
8<\/sup> the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore. <\/p>\n
