{"id":2451,"date":"2010-08-09T09:59:26","date_gmt":"2010-08-09T13:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/?p=2451"},"modified":"2010-08-09T09:59:26","modified_gmt":"2010-08-09T13:59:26","slug":"palacsinta-hungarian-dessert-pancakes-or-crepes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=2451","title":{"rendered":"Palacsinta (Hungarian Dessert Pancakes or Crepes)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"363\" alt=\"palicinka and peaches 001\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-001_thumb.jpg\" width=\"484\" border=\"0\"><\/a> It doesn&#8217;t really matter what language you use, these thin and flexible pancakes are always welcomed with a smile and ready appetite!<\/p>\n<p>They take a while to make, because you cook each one individually- usually, by the time I&#8217;m doing the last pancakes, the rest have been gobbled down.&nbsp; I try to save the last two for me, but sometimes, I only get the messed up one ( hah- purposely done!).<\/p>\n<p>The recipe I&#8217;m sharing is so easy- it uses club soda for leavening and leaves out butter altogether.&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/figjamandlimecordial.com\/2010\/08\/08\/lemonade-scones\/\">Celia at Fig Jam and Lime Cordial<\/a> has a wonderful recipe for Lemonade Scones using the same principle- in Australia, Lemonade= lemon\/lime soda- like Seven-Up or Sprite.&nbsp; Try her scones- only3 ingredients and they are great.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the recipe for the palacsinta (pal- ah-sheen-ka )<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 cup all-purpose (plain) flour<\/p>\n<p>1 egg<\/p>\n<p>1 cup milk<\/p>\n<p>pinch sea salt<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup club soda or seltzer water<\/p>\n<p>Vegetable oil for griddle<\/p>\n<p>fresh fruit or preserves <\/p>\n<p>confectioner&#8217;s sugar or cinnamon sugar for garnish<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"164\" alt=\"palicinka and peaches 005\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-005_thumb.jpg\" width=\"124\" border=\"0\"><\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stir flour into a bowl.&nbsp; Add egg, milk and salt.&nbsp; Beat gently until smooth.&nbsp; Add seltzer or club soda.&nbsp; Beat batter with wooden spoon until smooth.&nbsp; Put batter in cool place and allow it to rest for 10 to 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Pour some oil into skillet and allow it to get very hot, but not smoking.&nbsp; Pour in a small amount&nbsp; of batter, thinly covering&nbsp; bottom of pan.&nbsp; Cook in hot oil until crisp.&nbsp; Turn pancake over and fry on other side.&nbsp; Add oil as necessary.&nbsp; If batter begins to thicken, thin it with a small amount of club soda.<\/p>\n<p>Spread pancakes with your favorite preserves, or you can use fresh fruit- I used sugared peaches on ours.&nbsp; They may be rolled up or folded in half.&nbsp; Sprinkle pancakes with&nbsp; icing\/powered sugar or cinnamon sugar and enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>This recipe should make 12 very thin pancakes- Palacsinta!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"84\" alt=\"palicinka and peaches 002\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-002_thumb.jpg\" width=\"111\" border=\"0\"><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-003.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"84\" alt=\"palicinka and peaches 003\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-003_thumb.jpg\" width=\"111\" border=\"0\"><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-004.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"85\" alt=\"palicinka and peaches 004\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/palicinka-and-peaches-004_thumb.jpg\" width=\"112\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It doesn&#8217;t really matter what language you use, these thin and flexible pancakes are always welcomed with a smile and ready appetite!
