Psalm 54<\/h6>\n
For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Amaskil of David. When the Ziphites had gone to Saul and said, “Is not David hiding among us?” [a<\/a>]<\/sup><\/h6>\n

1<\/sup> Save me, O God, by your name;
       vindicate me by your might. <\/p>\n

2<\/sup> Hear my prayer, O God;
       listen to the words of my mouth. <\/p>\n

3<\/sup> Strangers are attacking me;
       ruthless men seek my life\u2014
       men without regard for God.
       Selah <\/p>\n

4<\/sup> Surely God is my help;
       the Lord is the one who sustains me. <\/p>\n

5<\/sup> Let evil recoil on those who slander me;
       in your faithfulness destroy them. <\/p>\n

6<\/sup> I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you;
       I will praise your name, O LORD,
       for it is good. <\/p>\n

7<\/sup> For he has delivered me from all my troubles,
       and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes. <\/p>\n

The psalms are full of praise and thanksgiving.  They are a treasury of history and poetry.  And they resonate with our feelings of worship<\/em> <\/p>\n

Some psalms, however are cries for help.<\/em> <\/p>\n

I like them all,but some times the cries for help seem the most familiar.<\/em> <\/p>\n

Not that I am being attacked by evil men “ruthless men seek my life.”<\/em> <\/p>\n

Or that people are actively slandering me (at least I don’t think they are)><\/em> <\/p>\n

But that I am in danger, the waters of death are closing over my head and I am hopelessly out of my depth.  I have cried out for help with this same degree of consternation and fear.  And He delivers.  God delivers salvation and peace.<\/em> <\/p>\n

Just knowing Him guarantees that you will come to a deliverance.<\/em> <\/p>\n

God takes care of His own.<\/em> <\/p>\n

Not always in our timing or along the paths we were searching- and not always with a fairy tale ending- yet.  Living happily ever after requires Eternity- and we aren’t usually transported from the place of danger into the Heavenly realms.  Often, the path ahead is cleared so that we can face danger at another time, perhaps from a different source.  <\/em> <\/p>\n

For me, it is enough that He listens.  <\/em> <\/p>\n

And answers with love.<\/em> <\/p>\n

I need that.<\/em> <\/p>\n
