{"id":1324,"date":"2010-02-10T13:57:09","date_gmt":"2010-02-10T17:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/?p=1324"},"modified":"2010-02-10T13:57:09","modified_gmt":"2010-02-10T17:57:09","slug":"food-confession","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heidiannie.com\/?p=1324","title":{"rendered":"Food confession"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> I&#8217;m only going to say this once.<\/p>\n<p>I am dutifully ashamed of myself.<\/p>\n<p>I bought lard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bread-and-stir-fry-012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"180\" alt=\"bread and stir fry 012\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bread-and-stir-fry-012_thumb.jpg\" width=\"239\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was last year- and I got taken in on those stories about how flaky and wonderful pie dough is made from lard.&nbsp; I bought a pound and tried it.<\/p>\n<p>The dough was flaky- but it tasted like LARD.&nbsp; There was no delicate buttery undertones- it tasted like &#8230; well it tasted&#8230; it tasted like LARD.<\/p>\n<p>yuck.<\/p>\n<p>So it has been sitting in my refrigerator as I try to figure out what to do with it.<\/p>\n<p>I could have pitched it- but I don&#8217;t like throwing stuff away.<\/p>\n<p>Last night I finally figured out a use for it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bread-and-stir-fry-013.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"180\" alt=\"bread and stir fry 013\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bread-and-stir-fry-013_thumb.jpg\" width=\"239\" border=\"0\"><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bread-and-stir-fry-014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"180\" alt=\"bread and stir fry 014\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bread-and-stir-fry-014_thumb.jpg\" width=\"239\" border=\"0\"><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>I used it in my cast iron pans to grease the bottom of cornbread I was making to go with the chili.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bread-and-stir-fry-015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"180\" alt=\"bread and stir fry 015\" src=\"http:\/\/heidiannie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bread-and-stir-fry-015_thumb.jpg\" width=\"239\" border=\"0\"><\/a> And it worked quite well.<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;m NEVER buying it again.<\/p>\n<p>Because while it does make very nice pie dough-<\/p>\n<p>it still tastes like lard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m only going to say this once.
